In a significant move to enhance digital accessibility and public engagement, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has officially launched its revamped website today, Monday, December 2, 2024. The new platform promises a modernized interface, improved functionality, and a deeper commitment to transparency and accountability.
A Next-Generation Website Built In-House
According to a statement signed by Sidi Ali, the Acting Director of Corporate Communications, the redesigned website features cutting-edge technology built entirely in-house.
“The bank has developed a contemporary Web API that operates on Microsoft .NET Core 8 (the most recent and stable release) to enhance user experience by speeding up and simplifying the navigation process. We are pleased to announce that the front-end design and back-end technology were created in-house,” the statement read.
The website’s improvements include:

- Enhanced navigation speed and simplicity for better user experience.
- Responsiveness to mobile devices, ensuring seamless accessibility across all web browsers and devices.
- A wealth of new content, providing comprehensive information about the CBN’s mandate and activities.
Advancing Transparency and Accessibility
The launch of the website aligns with CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso’s earlier promise to overhaul the bank’s digital platforms to foster trust and openness. At the 30th Nigerian Economic Summit in October, Cardoso emphasized the importance of a user-friendly website as a tool to bolster public confidence in the institution.
“Our website is about to be significantly overhauled. Very shortly, we will see a new website. And that’s all headed in the direction of transparency and openness,” Cardoso had announced during a special summit dinner.
Cardoso highlighted that the new platform would improve public access to information, making the bank’s activities more transparent and relatable to everyday Nigerians.

Key Features of the Revamped Website
The redesigned website goes beyond aesthetics, offering several advanced features aimed at serving a broader audience:
- Contemporary Design: The new layout ensures that users can quickly find the information they need without unnecessary complications.
- Mobile-Friendly Accessibility: With the rise of mobile internet usage, the website has been optimized for smartphones and tablets.
- Comprehensive Content Expansion: Users can access detailed information about the CBN’s mandate, policies, and operations, providing a clearer understanding of the institution’s goals.
- Increased Responsiveness: Enhanced speed and functionality allow seamless interaction for users across various platforms.
CBN’s Digital Transformation Journey

The website launch is part of a broader digital transformation initiative by the CBN under Cardoso’s leadership. In addition to the platform revamp, the bank is leveraging digital tools to improve communication, accountability, and accessibility for its stakeholders.
“Information is something that we are ensuring to improve on at the Central Bank,” Cardoso reiterated. “We are bringing out activities that are closer to the people. We put out the information and allowed people to have a line of sight and have an idea of where they were going and how far we expected to continue from that particular point.”
A Platform for Trust and Collaboration
The CBN’s new website aims to create a transparent digital interface for individuals, businesses, and other stakeholders. By prioritizing openness and accessibility, the bank is signaling its commitment to bridging the gap between its policies and the public it serves.
With this launch, the CBN is not only advancing its communication strategy but also setting a benchmark for digital innovation in Nigeria’s financial sector. The move is a clear indication of the bank’s readiness to adapt to the evolving demands of the digital age while keeping its core values of trust, transparency, and accountability at the forefront.
