Huawei Partners with Galaxy Backbone in Building Nigeria’s First Dual-Certified Tier IV Data Center

GBB partnered with Huawei to build the Tier IV data center using Huawei’s FusionDC1000B prefabricated modular data center solution.

Galaxy Backbone (GBB), a leading digital transformation company in Nigeria, has achieved a significant milestone by earning the Uptime Tier IV certification for its second data center. This accomplishment marks GBB as the first in Nigeria to obtain the Tier IV design and facility certifications, setting a new benchmark for data centers in the country.

Significance of Tier IV Certification

The Tier IV certification from the Uptime Institute is the highest standard in the data center industry, ensuring an availability of 99.995%. This certification reflects that GBB’s data center meets rigorous international standards for reliability, redundancy, and fault tolerance. It positions GBB to offer enhanced cloud services, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions to both public and private sector organizations in Nigeria.

Impact on Nigeria’s Digital Transformation

This achievement is a crucial step in accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation and advancing its goal of becoming a leading digital economy in Africa. The GBB data center’s high reliability and availability will play a vital role in supporting Nigeria’s National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy 2020–2030 and the National Broadband Plan 2020–2025. These initiatives aim to improve digital infrastructure, increase broadband penetration, and promote sustainable economic growth.
