Meta has launched the Llama 3.1 Impact Grants, offering up to $2 million USD in funding to support innovative use cases of its open-source AI, Llama 3.1, to tackle critical global challenges. This initiative continues Meta’s commitment to leveraging AI for social good and builds on the success of previous grant programs.

- Events: Regional events including virtual events, in-person hackathons, workshops, and training sessions in multiple regions including Sub-Saharan Africa, North America, Latin America, and others.

Support for Applicants
Meta will host various regional events to provide technical guidance and mentorship, helping applicants develop impactful applications of Llama 3.1 in local contexts. Organizations participating in these events may also be eligible for additional specialized awards of up to $100,000 USD.
Previous Grant Programs
The inaugural Llama Impact Grants, announced in October 2023, saw over 800 applications from more than 90 countries. The 20 finalists have submitted their final proposals, with recipients to be announced in September 2024, alongside the Llama Impact Innovation Awards.
Application Process
Interested organizations can submit their proposals during the application window. All proposals will be evaluated based on specific selection criteria designed to assess the potential impact and feasibility of the proposed projects.
