The new system enables standard LTE cell phones to connect directly to satellites, eliminating the need for hardware upgrades, firmware changes, or specialized apps. Users simply need to have a clear view of the sky to access text, voice, and data services.
Initially, the constellation offers a bandwidth of 10Mb per beam, which Musk acknowledged is limited. However, he assured that future constellations would bring significant improvements in capacity and performance.
