WhatsApp appears to be testing a new dedicated video note mode for its camera interface on both Android and iOS platforms, according to a feature tracker. This new feature aims to allow users to record and share video notes directly from the camera interface.

Details and Beta Versions

According to WABetaInfo, the dedicated video note mode is expected to appear in the camera interface alongside the existing Video and Photo options. This feature was spotted in the beta versions of WhatsApp, with Android users seeing it in app version 2.24.14.14 via the Google Play Beta program. On iOS, the feature is present in WhatsApp for iOS version 24.13.10.76, available through the TestFlight Program.

Evolution of Video Notes

WhatsApp introduced Instant Video Notes in 2023, allowing users to record and send 60-second video messages directly in chats. Recently, the platform started testing a new shortcut button to quickly reply to video notes. The dedicated video notes option in the camera tab is expected to make sharing video notes even more seamless. Gadgets 360 staff, however, were unable to verify the availability of this feature on WhatsApp beta for Android.

Alternative Methods for Sending Video Notes

Currently, users can send video notes by long pressing the camera icon in a specific chat. The addition of a dedicated mode for video notes in the camera interface will provide an alternative and potentially more convenient method for users.
