Lagos, Nigeria — Zoho, an Indian-born multinational technology company, has announced a strategic partnership with She Code Africa (SCA), a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping young girls and women with essential tech skills. This collaboration aims to introduce SCA Academy trainers to Zoho Creator, Zoho’s low-code app development platform, through a series of “Train the Trainer” sessions. This initiative is part of Zoho Creator’s ‘Young Creators Program’ (YCP), which focuses on bridging the technical skill gap by empowering the next generation with advanced digital skills.
Empowering Trainers and Students
Under this partnership, 30 female trainers from the SCA Academy will participate in an intensive three-day training session at Zoho’s Lagos office. These trainers will gain in-depth knowledge on building enterprise-grade applications using low-code technology. Additionally, they will receive free access to the Zoho Creator platform and its training resources for a year. This will enable them to effectively transfer their new skills to female students in Nigeria associated with SCA, thereby empowering these young women to develop relevant solutions for real-time business challenges.
Kehinde Ogundare, Country Head at Zoho Nigeria, emphasized the company’s commitment to transnational localism—a growth strategy that supports local communities through upskilling and hiring local talent, equipping local businesses with Zoho technology, and promoting responsible and sustainable development. He noted that this partnership with SCA reflects Zoho’s dedication to these values.

Aligning with Long-Term Goals
She Code Africa, with a community of over 51,000 members and an ambitious goal to empower 100,000 girls with tech skills by 2030, finds this partnership in perfect alignment with its long-term vision. The YCP, launched globally in 2020, aims to address the technical skill gap by providing young individuals with access to Zoho’s platform, enabling them to develop custom applications without needing extensive programming knowledge.
Ogundare highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering confidence, encouraging personal growth, and positioning participants for further opportunities within the technology sector. Since its inception, the YCP has trained over 2,000 students worldwide, with participants earning completion certificates and winning various local prizes.
Supporting Startups and Adjusting to Market Conditions
This partnership with SCA follows Zoho’s continued efforts to support local startups and businesses. In 2023, as part of its Zoho for Startups programme, the company partnered with StartupSouth, an organization focused on developing startups in South and Southeast Nigeria.
Earlier this month, Zoho also announced a price adjustment for its Nigerian market to account for ongoing inflation. This move reflects the company’s responsiveness to local economic conditions while maintaining its commitment to delivering value to its customers.
Conclusion
Zoho’s collaboration with She Code Africa marks a significant step in empowering young women in Nigeria with the skills necessary to thrive in the tech industry. By providing comprehensive training and access to advanced digital tools, Zoho is helping to bridge the technical skill gap and foster a new generation of business leaders and professionals. This initiative not only enhances technical capabilities but also promotes personal growth and confidence, aligning with Zoho’s broader mission of supporting sustainable development and local communities.
